Jala Neti has been practiced for centuries within the Shat Kriya system of Hatha Yoga, alongside other traditional cleansing techniques used to prepare the body and breath for deeper practice. Regular use of this pot can help ease seasonal congestion, reduce sinus discomfort, and support clearer breathing before pranayama or asana practice. At Manjushree Yoga Vidyalaya, we introduce this kriya early in a student’s training, since a clear breath forms the foundation of steady, mindful practice. This is the same style pot we use in our own daily sessions. This pot is designed for comfort and ease of use, making the technique approachable even for first-time practitioners, while remaining durable enough for daily long-term use in a home or studio setting.

  • What’s in the box: 2 BPA free Jala Neti pots and 5 salt sachets

How to practice:

  1. Fill it with lukewarm water and dissolve a small amount of pure, non-iodized salt to match your body’s natural saline balance — this is what makes the rinse comfortable rather than irritating.
  2. Lean gently forward 45 degrees, start breathing steadily through your mouth throughout.
  3. Tilt your head to one side and let the water flow in through the upper nostril and out through the lower one, Switch sides and repeat.

Consistency matters more than perfection with this practice. Many students notice a difference in breath clarity within the first week of regular use, particularly during seasonal changes or in dusty, polluted environments. It’s a practice worth doing gently — never forcing water through if there’s resistance, and always using clean, lukewarm (never cold or hot) water.
